Gasoline and Diesel Prices to Drop Following Latest Stock Market Movements

Pret Motorina

For tomorrow, October 21, the maximum retail prices for standard-type petroleum products will be: 25.11 lei/liter for RON 95 gasoline (-5 bani); 28.84 lei/liter for standard diesel (-9 bani), MOLDPRES reports.

According to the National Energy Regulatory Agency (ANRE), following a period of rising Platts quotations for both gasoline and diesel, the average level of this indicator is now declining, a fact that will also be reflected in the fuel prices calculated by the institution.

„Platts quotations represent the indicator underlying the current method for determining price levels, given that the Republic of Moldova imports petroleum products at a rate of 100%. Current legislation guarantees that both increases and decreases in retail prices for gasoline and diesel strictly correlate with the level of Platts quotations for these products,” ANRE states.

In the oil industry, the price of derivative products (e.g., gasoline and diesel) is tied to quotations set daily by the American company S&P Global Platts, based on the Platts methodology.
